Zip Theatre has been performing at Ridware for almost twenty years and have never failed to engage and entertain our audiences, whether the subject be serious or funny, for adults or children. On Saturday, May 3rd they will present “Packers” by Alex Jones, whose credits include original plays for many of the UK’s top theatres and the BBC. This is a comedy set in the heart of what was once the cradle of industry; the Black Country. It’s about a group of women working in a draughty warehouse, who are packing goods for an unscrupulous boss during the run up to Christmas. It is both a poignant and hilarious piece which tells a story of pain, pathos, mad boyfriends, hypochondriacs, attempted murder, sex and parcel-tape; but most of all it is a life-affirming story of ordinary people; their struggles, hopes and aspirations.
